I have an aged 123d currently with 210k miles and still going.

I've come to love it so I'm going to try and keep it going/give it some TLC.

Amongst various little issues it has the half leather sports interior which has split in the place they all seem to split (I've looked for straight replacements, they're all split).

Question is - is there any reason why I have to look for E87 seats? Could I put F21 ones in for example, or 3 series ones etc? Plan A is a full leather E87 interior but would be good to know if I can shop more widely, would be fun to get nicer seats.

Option 2 is a repair, how well do you think this could be repaired and could anyone suggest someone near Guildford to do that?

Second issue... my idrive seems to be half knackered. The maps/contacts don't work. Weirdly bluetooth etc all works fine although it does go through brief periods where it red screens and reboots but then is fine again.

Is that as simple as getting a replacement head unit? It did sound like it was grinding a hard drive or something when it was dying. Now if I try to go into maps it just says initialising and never starts.

Thanks!

If you can get a passenger side you could quite easily take the skins off and transfer onto the drivers side. That's assuming the seat covers are symmetrical.

You could also look into re-trimmers. Not as expensive and most people think.

I'm vaguely considering a proper recondition, I was planning to junk it but I figure the most environmentally friendly thing to do is keep it going. I could go electric but then this thing has been created so disposing of it may well be worse than keeping it going.

Plus, I like driving it... it's still fun/fast etc.. and it's beguiled me by getting over 200k on the same engine/gearbox/clutch/suspension (which does need attention) etc.

I could easily afford a new car but I figure... why spend the money?

The most expensive thing wrong with it right now is the bonnet which is rusting very nicely due to the amount of stone chips etc... it's got that sort of hilarious banger thing going where whenever I open the bonnet a handful of it falls off :)

ASM Autos are breaking a E87 with full leather seats that look in OK condition based on the pictures. Might be worth seeing how much they’ll charge? I’ve used them before and the price was very competitive :).

Nice thanks...

Turns out I've got an E81 lol.. I keep forgetting that. I guess the front seats would fit though?

Fair to assume seats out of the 2 door coupe would too? My other half used to have one and most of the bits looked identical.
