I used to go on E60.net a fair bit. Only problem is that the Americans massively outnumber the Brits, and for some things there's quite a difference between UKDM and USDM cars .
BMWLand is the best UK site for technical expertise. You will also get a lot of value from the American ones as well - bimmerforums and bimmerboard both tend to be pretty technical.
Most of the other sites are about bling, ultra cheap tyres and slamming your ropey 320i on coilies mate, innit.
e36coupe.com aka bmwowner.com has the above content but all forums will, it also contains a vast amount of e36 technical knowledge as well as having opened up to other models in the past year or two and does provide quite a lot of help.
I've tried other BMW forums but most of them don't seem as friendly or willing to help.
