Is anyone else here really tempted to buy one ?

I've been holding out upgrading the old ZX10 until something massively faster on paper appeared, it seems this is it though with almost 20bhp at the wheel more.

I was looking at 08+ Busa's just for the ultimate BHP machine, but the S1000 beats it in every way performance wise and handles way better.

Tough decisions.. :(

If I could afford one I would buy one in a heartbeat, still going to try and get a test ride on one though :D
Looks like most of the Jap manufacturers have accepted defeat too as everyone bar Honda have said no new 1000 for 2011!

I'd love one too if I could afford it, looks like a remarkable bit of kit. Maybe in a few years when there are more 2nd hand examples I'll be able to get one. It'll be interesting to see what Honda bring out next year in retaliation.

Yep, I think its just what was needed to shake up the jap firms. You can guarantee that they will be some vastly improved newer models from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Susuki come christmas time.

I was thinkign of arrnaging a test ride of the S1000R just to see how good they really are. Be interesting to see if they are anywhere near as good as the hype.

I know a couple of people with them, both love them.

With all the toys and the power on tap I can see why, it'll be interesting to see the response from the other manufacturers (if there is any the way the economy currently stands).

Personally it's rather irrelevant as I can't really justify buying one, the money would be better spent on rider training in my case rather than upgrading bike.

I'm potentially thinking about one of these for when I move out to Germany(especially as I get bikes tax free, 19% off, yes please :D lol), but torn between style of bike I want at the moment, depends on how much inter-european travel I do. If I think I'll end up doing a load, may end up looking at the K1300-S possibly. Maybe a 'Busa. I just don't think the 750 will do for long journeys lol.

Hah, course the gixxer does long journeys! :D
Scotland and back on mine a few times now, airblade screen and a shaved seat(flattened out and recovered) made it quite comfy, i plan to use a tank bag to lean on for the next trip.

Saying that the bimmer would make the journey fly past!

Be good if Kawasaki did bring something to rival any of them, their last attempt was just dire to look at, the new one is supposed to have 190bhp but prob at the crank so already down on the BMW?
The spy shots look really sexy but then I am yet to see a race ready bike, draped in carbon, Brembo and Ohlins that does not look good :p
I find Kawasaki is always trailing behind Suzuki and Yamaha and they are getting put to shame by the BMW currently.
I don't really know what it is with the Kawasaki to be fair, the current ugly model to side I have always liked the look of the old ones and they have always had powerful engines but I would always choose a Yamaha or a Suzuki over them, of course just personal preference but even out on the road and at meets there's got to be more of a reason why GSXR's and R1's are common as hell..

I just don't want to run the bike in to the ground with epic long journeys in autobahns etc. I think I may end up making it in to a track bike to be honest. Have to see how the funds work out in the coming months. Will probably be early next year even, considering the snow I'll be getting in north Germany lol.

Kwak just don't have the budget to compete. There is a rawness and aggression though that the others never beat.... But maybe that's down to bad handling :-)

Suz seem to have lost their way and though the gix thou looks ok it has fallen way behind

The r1 big bang motor is crazy...... The blade is almost to good it loses excitement

I dunno, it's so hard to keep up with the constant swapping of class leaders...

Yea your right about Kawasaki's and it was a shame to see them pull out of the MotoGP,I thought we were going to see a big decline in them after that but would be good to see them bring something out to compete with the BMW!

Yea not a big fan of the latest gsxr, its been to samey for too long they need to shake things up abit :p
The R1 I still like the look and the sound but its way too much money!
