What sort of prices do people pay for their BMW's when they take them into dealerships? i.e. labour costs, parts etc.
The best quote I found for an oil service (plus microfilter and air filter/intake silencer) was £475, and that included the 4 Plus discount. This seems like a hell of a lot of money for an oil service. I already have 12 litres of oil at home, which will bring the price down a bit but still......I dont remember E46 M3 oil service costs being this high.

About £200 from memory for an oil service at Coopers for my Z4M. That's with me supplying my own oil from Opie oils. I think BMW charge roughly double for the oil than you can get yourself so a decent saving can be made there using that supply you have. £475 seems astronomical. Get quotes from dealers further away and then see if you can't get a price match closer to home.

Where did you purchase your car from? I received a voucher book from BMW Bedford a few weeks after I bought mine from there. Unfortunately it's only for Elms BMW because Sytner is my local, but the saving on servicing my M5 using the vouchers will negate the extra mileage and still provide a nice discount. 20% off service I think, and 20% off BMW Upgrades or Accessories, discount on MOTs and other such things as well. Quite a few useful vouchers :)

If you bought yours from BMW I'm surprised they have not sent you such a book to keep you loyal to them.

You could try ring other dealers but TBH they're all going to be pretty much the same. Worth a try though :)

Panthro how close to Guildford are you?

About 20 miles.

I bought it privately so wont be receiving any vouchers unfortunately :(

The intake silencer is the thing that is bumping up the price up .

Managed to get it to £383 for the oil service, microfilter, intake silencer and vehicle check. Will keep hunting around!

£200 for an oil service for the E60 530d.

My last service included the usual vehicle scope, air conditioning service, new brake pads on the rear axel, new bushes on the rear axel and an oil chance for £850.

£450 for the oil change alone sounds pretty steep — I guess that's what you get for having an M3.

I paid £174 inc oil, filter and vat for the oil service on my 530d in March at Synter Sunningdale. I buy the microfilters off them but never get them to fit them and they cost about £57. They always price match as they quote high initially, so would be worth phoning around and getting other quotes. Mine is going in for the vehicle check next week and that is £140 inc vat.

Why dont you get them to fit the microfilter? Do they sign off saying the oil change has been done correctly?

Because they charge about 30 minutes labour for them to be fitted and I have replaced them early a couple of times. The microfilter is tied into my oil service on the LCI they stamp it off as completed and my receipt shows two microfilters bought.

My car is at a completely different league to yours... but Barons Farnborough (Ash Vale) quoted me £230 (included oil and microfilter) or £117 to bring my own oil.

I usually call up my 3 nearest dealers to compare prices - Barons Farnborough, Sytner Sunningdale and Cooper Cobham. Barons Farnborough is always the cheapest for me and willing to price match :)

How easy is it to change the microfilter on your car?

Millstream BMW in Gomshall, they'll look after you and worth the drive. Especially if you come via Dorking ;) cracking bit of road!

Will look into it. Cheers.

Im waiting for Barons to call me back, they said they'd call back in 30 mins...2 hours ago!

On a side note when you guys get your car serviced do you get charged for a courtesy car? Synter wanted £18 per day when I asked for one the other day.

You have to pay for insurance - £18ish but they'll usually void this for you. Not paid to insure one for ages.

Sytner Coventry was only £15 a day if I recall correctly, but as fox said they'll normally wave it if it's for a brief period. Although I guess that depends on who it is and what's being done.
