I think this is great in two way.

1. The BNP are (soon to be) bankrupt.

2. Nobody needed to intervene and they weren't "muted" by government or anything.

Effectively this is a victory for free speech. The fact they were allowed to exist, and that they have fallen on their own arses because nobody cares about them.

They used images and such from Marmite without permission for their advertising campaign where they compared themselves to Marmite (Love us or hate us type thing)

I don't think it was a love/hate thing - I think it was a more a "quintissentially British" type of thing.

Funnily enough, Marmite didn't want to be associated with a bunch of racist xenophobes.

It is a victory for free speech in a way yet the argument then becomes that the deck was stacked against them because it's only those who are relatively wealthy who can afford to stay in the political process - is it really democracy when it's only available to those with sufficient resources?

I'll not be crying into my pillow tonight at the thought of the BNP ceasing to exist as a political party but they were certainly handy in some ways and where you can see such racism or xenophobia it's easier to combat/deal with than when it is underground so to speak. They provided a focal point for pretty much all sides of the argument which is why I suggest they had their uses.
