Of those I would personally go with the ASUS, it is a really solid board. Here is a review.
However, unless you have some very specific requirements you may be much better off going for a LGA1155 Ivy Bridge system. May I ask what you will be mainly using the PC for?
thanks for the link
i mainly use the pc for gaming and some video work i thought about 1155 and Ivy Bridge but decided for around the same price i could go 2011 as its a bit longer life with new cpus coming out in late 2013. i dont intend upgraging for a while after this one is done
thanks

For the video work you should get a boost in performance compared to an i5, but for gaming there simply isn't any performance advantage going for LGA2011.
I understand what you are saying about a longer life, but please bear in mind that it only means that the Ivy Bridge upgrade for the LGA2011 platform is coming later than the LGA1155 one (which is expected to happen next week).
You can once again expect that the prices of Ivy Bridge E hex cores will be in the £450+ range - so if you did upgrade and only wanted to spend less than £300 then you would have to go for the Ivy Bridge E quad core. When you consider this and the relative performance difference of the Sandy Bridge and Sandy Bridge-E i7 quad core CPUs the whole LGA 2011 platform appears less worthwhile.
Also, for the money you save not getting a LGA 2011 system you could buy a considerably better graphics card or a bigger/faster SSD, which would make gaming and general use a whole lot nicer.
i understand what your saying about 1155 but ive got my heart set on a 2011 system now after a lot reading and think it would suit me better and when the hex core cpus are out i will have the option to just upgrade my cpu and not have all the problems ive had on choosing new hardware but like you say they will be very expensive.
thanks again for the i7 e review

well im leaning towards the Asus P9X79 Pro now after some more reading of reviews and the recomendation from cmndr andi.
is there any more opinions? and i would also like some users of this board to tell me of any problems or little niggles they have with it.
Same situation as you and after much reading of reviews i decided on the msi gd65(8d) as it fulfills all i personally need and at the minute comes with a free frio cooler in case my wc'ing ever gives out. Reading reviews the msi with the newer bios's is a good overclocking board has all the features you expect for the price and seems very stable. Also read many happy user's i always prefer user reviews so in the end i decided on that.
I have to be honest though and admit because of past problems i tend to steer clear of asus so i am from the start of an upgrade a bit biased towards them and won't say why as i don't want my bias to affect you or your decision (it was also not something that happens very often at all but if it happens to you it sticks). I did look closely at the asrock boards and it was close but read a few people who had problems with bent pins and whilst not a massive problem it seems to happen more often then it should and i would rather not take the chance.
