Hey,

A friend of mine would like to upgrade his son's PC; He's currently using a tired old Athlon X2 and we're wondering what sort of upgrade would be feasible for £100. The PC is only ever used for web stuff, flash games and youtube so I suggested a cheap mATX H61 motherboard, a Celeron G530 / G550 and 4GBs of budget DDR3 but is this the best suggestion? Would a comparable AMD chip prove more useful?

The integrated GPU doesn't matter as another friend has offered a Radeon 5850 (complete overkill) and I've got a spare 6450

cant see the point of an upgrade for £100 tbh, does it struggle a lot?

get him some ram, 4gb will do and stick the 5850 in or sell the 5850 as they are going for silly prices currently (£100+) and use that to get better parts.
