Hey guys following on from another thread I created on here.

I got a gigabyte pro 7400n board
here is the CPU support list:

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=1652

I got a XP24000 installed on the board. In the BIOS it still comes up at XP1800.
I changed the FSB to 266 then 333 and then 400 but yet it still reads it as XP 1800.

I updated the board with the latest BIOS but it still doesn't help. I think I have accepted the BIOS won't recognise it. In system properties it says XP1800 1.5ghz.

But something that is good is my overclocking software in the OS lets me overlock this thing to over 2ghz. I got it up to 2.1 ghz and the CPU temperature was around 55-60C.

XP2400 is rated at 2ghz...

The question is am I getting to go this high because it really is XP2400?
Does that gigabyte tuning software automatically get my CPU up to 2ghz when I restart the system?

damn it recognises it at 1493 mhz that isn't even xp 1800! arghhh
could the live bios update from the internet server be giving me an old bios version?

I shall have to look at what model is shown on there again.

I am trying to overclock with easy tune 4 from gigabyte cd it was overclocking before but now i cant seem to select any options such as dram it just dont let me

oh dear it comes up as XP1800. It is for sure a xp 2400 even when I put the xp 3000 chip in the BIOS recognised it as xp1800

this is so annoying i wouldnt be that bothered if i could overclock it to 2ghz but the gigabyte software isn't working now

If you wish to 100% identify the chip, take it out and post on here all of the codes on the chip.

Dynamic power saving is probably exactly what it says, something that saves power dynamically, shouldn't do any harm turning it off...

Also, it's a lot more stable if you overclock using the bios of the motherboard, also, the speed will be saved in there and load up at that apeed every time you turn you computer on....

okay I know it is XP 2400 but will post a picture.

Anyway do you know how to turn off dynamic power saving?
I spent 20 minutes in the BIOS can't find it there. Is it in Windows?
