Hi there,

After my mobo dying yesterday :( I'm after recommendations for a new motherboard and Ram for a 4770k

Budget for mobo is ~£200 and ram ~£150 (16GB for ~£100 would be nice though!)

Will be used in a custom water loop, 2 670's and a pciE sound card so 4 pci-e slots would be nice.

Cheers!

At that budget for the board go Gigabyte OC or ASUS ROG Gene or Hero.

RAM with that budget you are limited to kits at around 1600 - 1866 mhz. Choose any from a major manufacturer. They will work fine.

I went with the z87x-OC, Cheers.
Regarding the OC-Peg on the board, I dont have a spare 6+2 pin pci-e for it, Is it ok to use a molex 》pci-e adapter for it?

Similar question about the CPU power pins, It has slots for a 8pin & a 4pin, I only have the 1 4+4 pin cpu power cable..

The PSU I have now is a TX750v1, 4 yrs old.

For exactly the same amount I can get either a Seasonic x850 gold or a XFX 1050w pro series Gold.
I think the xfx is made by Seasonic, Or should I not bother and get a few molex adapters? :D

Up and running :D

Had a quick go at overclocking the 4770k, So far all I've done is change the Vcore, Multiplier & disable all C states.

4.5ghz is stable (3 hrs prime) at 1.232v, To reach 4.6 it needs 1.285V.

Temps at 4.5 55-60c in prime95 small ftt's, 4.6/1.285v - 60-65c.

Should the uncore ratio be the same as the multiplier?

Whats a safe max voltage in a custom wc loop? Looking round the net some people say vcore is fine upto 1.4 so long as its kept under 85c?

Cheers
