ok didnt want SLI at the time but ... hey things change :)

ive got 8800 GTX now....

2 gb ram

ive got a number of hard drives of which the Intel board only will work with 5 hard drives... although it has 8 sata ports - strange.

Anybody care to recommend a board to replace this ?

Must be Qx6700 friendly.... going to put 4 gb ram in there and swapping over to vista.... 2 8800 gtx`s - not to bothered about overclocking ....

Recommendations .... if your selling one also - drop me a line.

Well, if you want SLI, it's 780i if you want to use DDR2, or 790i if you want to use DDR3. :)

I don't think there's a lot of difference between the makes of board, they all generally follow the same reference design.

yeah got 4 gb of ddr 2 now ... the main problem is the board not running all the sata drives which I find really weird.

have 2 x raptor 150gb in raid.
2 x 320gb drive

and 2 new 500gb drives to replace the above..... if I add both of the 500 drives it refuses to boot.... any combination disconnect or reconnect and doesnt boot.

weird ?

Which drives are connected to which controller? Are you checking that the boot priority isn't changing when you connect more drives?

yeah checked the boot priority....

it works out that 1 drive has to connect to the Marvell controller ... it seems this is the problem somewhere....

if I disconnect one of the satas from the intel controller .... and put it on the marvell it works ok.... its just not happy with 5 drives.... I dont want to keep 5 drives but want to copy data across them which is easiest to do ... then I will probably remove the 2 smaller ones.

so 4 drives are on the intel controller...

1 ends up on the marvell controller which there are 4 ...

4 intel
4 marvell
