Hi,
Boardman cx team is on special today at £630, I can get another 10% off with British cycling + another 10% off with gift vouchers which brings it in around £516.99. Runs out tonight.
Alternatively I can get a Giant Rapid 3 Flat bar road bike for £479 on the works cyclescheme on which I'd pay after tax benefits around £270.
It'll be used for a 2.5 mile trip each way to work which consists of road and some rough cycle path and a couple of unflat drop curbs. I currently have a Carrera Vulcan MTB with Schwalbe City jets and I want something lighter and faster. My brain says go with the Rapid as I like sitting up a little higher for visibility and to avoid the occasional lower back pain/stiffness, although the 25mm tyres and wheels might not like the cubrs. My heart says go CX bike for speed and versatility.
Help... is the boardman worth twice the giant ?
