Any ideas on the best way to mount an extra intake fan, my lian li a70f currently has 2 1500 rpm 140mm yate loon front intakes, what with the warmer weather id like to add another 120mm 1650 rpm yate loon fan in the 3 spare 5.25 bays, cant afford a kama bay or similair but i do have a set of replacement lian li mesh filtered 5.25 bay covers to mount the fan behind. What would be the best method to hold the fan securely in place?

I would have thought fitting the fan within the bay behind the front grills would be possible with bungies on the corners?

Or if you have any thin alloy brackets that can be made L shaped or old brackets for HDD's into DVD bays or such?

Personally I would buy the Kama Bay instead of the Yate Loon and upgrade the Kama fan later.

Stu, did you have to mount the fan far back in the bay? As your a lian li owner yourself im sure you know that the drive bay cover sides are pretty long.

Where you able to get the mesh bay cover into place without hitting the rubber bands.

Case front as it currently looks.

@satusbulas, im not sure mate if the kama bay would fit too well, due to the slide in design that lian li use for their bay covers.

Mine are mounted in mine with 3mm bungee. Hard drive is bungee mounted too.

all you need is 2 cable ties and a metre of bungee or elastic. Easy! (cheesey) peasy!

setter: yep, drive covers fit with the fan mounted from the front screw holes. You could use anything really... I just had elastic bands to hand.

edit: you can see where the paperclips are in the fourth pic in that thread i linked

No worries. I now have two fans mounted that way in the front. removed HD cage, hard drive is now mounted using one of those akasa mount things. Note to lian li owners... the akasa thingy doesn't fit behind the drive covers! Grr, had to get the dremel out:)
