body weight workouts

:o I beg to differ, they would put a lot of the so called 'gym rats' on here to shame :D

Ok - I'll qualify that.

I don't think "MANY" people every got big. I strongly suspect - based on that guy's build - that he didn't do it through BW exercises alone...

I think most people on a cathletics workout scheme will wind up looking like that crazy American dude (I forget his name, but he's the chin-up wizard)...

Knowing them and passing drug tests doesn't mean that they're not getting "assistance"...

high level athletes have been long term users and passed plenty of tests and only later admitted it out of guilt or whatever.

He has been doing it for nigh on 10+ years. They are part of Bartendaz UK, there is another chap he trains who is equally big. They are most definitely not on anything, they get tested a fair few times each year as they compete in events.

I think what mrthingx meant was they do exercises other than body weight stuff rather them using any special supplements.

Ahh. I know they will do some core stuff, squats especially. But that's about it. They also have 'bars' in their backyard, literally. And they will train for 3/4 hours continuous. I've had a weights 'face-off' with them and they are not strong in terms of lifting actual weights but their core strength is bloody insane.

The OP is about purely cathletics, and you begged to differ that anyone has become big from doing them...

You've already had all your other posts deleted so why are you straight back onto banging a drum that has absolutely nothing to do with the thread subject.

And now you are too...

My posts being deleted doesn't change what I said, and what I said wasn't particularly off the topic.

It was even a comment based on an image of a guy someone was suggesting got that way from cathletics...

Come on

I was interested in some mass and endurance really I had read all those convict training blogs etc and wanted some validation of its actual results.

In answer to your op, just give it a go, YouTube mad be exercises or something and you'll get loads of results.

You'd probably start off with basics, general core exercises and slowly progress those in to things like dragon flags etc, then obviously you have basics movements like pull ups / press ups etc.

Its just a different form of training at the end of the day, will you become a major strength athlete? No. Compete on a body building stage, probably not. But you'll have fun doing whatever you want to do, so hey.

To be fair I've got a lot of respect for people who can throw there own bodyweight around in those sorts of ways, absolutely immense core strength just look at decent pole dancers(not just for the boobies)!

Bodyweight stuff if done correctly can certainly help develop a decent physique but only accentuated by the fact you will be lean. You will never be bulky or massive but definitely get some decent definition and some muscle mass.

It is so hard to build muscle that do to so without weights will be hard even doing it with weights isn't straight forward.

However gymnasts and so on spend HOURS every day pretty much doing repetitive movements. We all know that volume = muscle mass. But it will take longer I.e. many years to develop significant muscle mass unless you can train for hours every day at bodyweight only.

Convicts generally aren't natural.

The guys pictured aren't big they are just very lean accentuating their physique. Either way a lot of work has gone into it to get there irrespective.
