Boring old git....

i'm beginning to think i should buy something dull. I dont really use the performance of my car very much anymore, and although it's a lovely place to sit, i do all that sitting at low-20s mpg. A part of my mind keeps thinking how useful a mondeo estate would be.

I feel so old just for thinking it and i'm only 29. anyone else experiencing this?

i'm only going to have one car whatever happens. I'm just not that bothered about what it is any more. The 330ci is a lovely car, and being able to effortlessly overtake is nice, but is it worth the vast running costs? i'm not sure it is any more.

MPG in the 20s
£350 minimum for a decent set of new rear boots, and they dont last that long
1l/1000 miles of posh oil

all things i can happily afford to suck up, if i'm loving the ownership experience. the thing is, i'm not sure i am anymore. It's a lovely car, but it's become just "the car" to me, and a cheap-as-chips to run and fix mondeo is just as good at being "the car"

i no longer use the performance, and i dont care about the image

OP - get yourself another car. Keep it cheap, simple and basic. then keep your "nicer car for the weekend"

I did exactly that. Have a Lexus IS200 I was using to commute to and from work everyday. Was costing a fortune, and racking up the miles on what was once a low milage example. Now I have a Little Ka, which is cheap to insure, Tax and run in general (I get 52Mpg) tax is only £70 per 6 months. And I can sling my mountain bike in the back, pickup washing machines and put all the tools in the back - without the worry of the mess or cost of fuel lol

Cost wise? well I proabably save around £200-300 a year having the 2 cars all things considered. Plus my lexus only does 4-5k a years instead of 12/14k. Gotta be a win win mate!

i actually cant think of anything worse than doing the bulk of my driving in a bog-awful studentwagon
