I've woke up this morning to a shallow flood caused by the boiler and my PC won't power up at all! :(

The monitors work but I am unsure how to start troubleshooting this; any advice please?

Would it be worth me reporting this as broken under my contents insurance and if so any advice on how to explain it beyond what I know so far?

I'm assuming the water has got into the PC? Do you have a picture of the inside of the case we can look at? What we'd be looking for is scorch marks and/or corrosion.

You potentially could have done some damage trying to turn it on after water contact, from my experience most electrical components are fine with some water contact as long as they've been fully dried off afterwards.

The camera was also a casualty :(

I've looked at it and cannot recognise anything like that but I did notice a burnt smell in the room. My PC is always in sleep and is set to wake up and run updates and the like at 5AM so maybe it shorted or something? I don't have a clue honestly.

Most likely casualty, the PSU if it's at the bottom of the case. Hopefully didn't take anything else with it.

So yeah, take the PSU out, dry the case, and check with another PSU.

This should be covered by your insurance BTW. Not sure what they'll say and what they'll be willing to cover, you'll have to talk to them.
