Boiler issue

Hey all.

I have a combination boiler.

Today I had a shower, hot water was working fine.
I came back from a quick shopping trip and wanted to do the washing up, unfortunately to find that the hot water wasn't working.

The boiler detects the fact I want some as it changes mode and the burner led lights up. It makes its normal sounds. But I'm confident I cannot hear the click sound of the flame lighter.

No hot water at all.

I have tried:
Reset dial.
Turn it off an on again at switch.
Removing pressure from heating system and then pressurising it again.
I have checked the condenser pipe, cannot see any blockages (was able to blow down it).

Do I have to do the most unmanly thing and call a heating expert? Really can't afford too... Just forked out for new carpets, decorating and bedroom furniture. Bahh

Update

Ideal Independent c30 combi.
If you use any outlet that has a high flow rate the hot water works.
Use a tap with a lower flow rate it doesn't.
For example, the shower, hot water.
Kitchen tap no hot water.
Run two taps at same time you get hot water. Run one tap you don't.

Very odd. It's as if the boiler hasn't detected the hot water tap being on and seeing no demand for hot water.

Sounds like a sticking flow switch. Its an inline switch which detects the demand on the hot water and turns the boiler on to heat the water.

the c30 doesn't use a flow switch it uses a hall sensor

Either the hall sensor is playing up or more than likely the magnet isn't moving freely due to scale etc

About 50quid for the part and you just isolate the cold mains

Exactly the same issue on my C30 a few months back... £60 all in to fix, my boiler guy friend replaced 2 parts, I foret what they were called but one had a little fan/impeller inside that was knackered and the other was a amgnet sleeze that sit's over the other part to make contact when hot water is requested...

(Don't quote the above!)

Been solid since and working better than ever!
