Hello,

Backstory;

Approx 2 years ago now we bought an old house outside of a mains gas area. The house currently has retrofitted wet radiator central heating system fed from a traditional gas oil (kerosene) fired boiler with hot water cylinder in another location, the usual setup.

We have a 2,500L kerosene tank in the garden which lasts approx 1year firing the ~25 year old boiler.

I wish to upgrade this if it will be worthwhile, not only is 2,500L/pa of kerosene fairly expensive, but the boiler is very old now, and although it currently works fine i feel as though there must be a more efficient way of doing things these days what with condensing boilers, electric boilers, etc?

The way i see it, i think i have three options;
1) LPG - so a new garden tank, a new supply arrangement, and then a modern all singing all dancing gas condensing (combi?) boiler. Removal of hot water cylinder, etc etc.

2) A new kerosene fired boiler (are these any better than they were 25 years or so back?)

3) Electric boiler, either combi, or traditional. Removal of hot water cylinder with the former....

What do i do! :confused:
