Can I install boinc on Vista and is there any way getting it so it collects its work from my xp folder? I want to dual boot with xp and want it crunching all the time (obviously :p ) but I don't want it to be doing the same work constantly and atm I am mainly doing BBC CP (hugely long Wu's) and want it to crunch the same WU's so they actually finish!

Is this possible?

Vista's security model causes big problems for BOINC because MS decided applications can't write to their installation directories any more. Very nice of them. I'm going to have to fix our software for that as well.

As for sharing, yes you can. Just point Vista at your BOINC install. Won't work as a service, but it'll have to do for now.

BACKUP your BOINC directory and turn off network connections before you try this. Then, if it breaks, you can back out without anyone knowing.
