Boinc Windows 8

Has anyone tried running Boinc on Windows 8 yet. If has anyone noticed any speed increases from using it?

Hi Mark

Boinc will not run on windows 8 natively, you can however run it on windows 7 then do a windows 8 upgrade and it will work that way apparently they are "working on it"

Yup thats what i thought but it definately will not install on windows 8 the only way i could do it was an upgrade from 7

Are you finding SETI output on Windows 8 any different to Windows 7? I know XP seems to perform better than 7 so I'm interested to know.

Nope not really, seemed about the same on the rig I swapped back to Windows 7.

I'm having a play around with Win8 tonight. I couldn't get 6.x versions of boinc to install but the latest 7.0.28 installed no problem. It downloading new work painfully slow but I'll hopefully be crunching away again by morning. Time will tell if my RAC is any different.
