a while back my startup was interupted by a "keyboard interface error press f1 to resume" message, i serched around the bios looking for a setting that disabled the keyboard error, just serching round my bios now i found a command which lets me disable all F1 errors so i enabled it and as expected no F1 error, but my question is, is this a good long term alternitive or should i just stick with pressing F1 on startup with the thought in mind that if i do get an error my mobo will tell me?

thanks :)

The problem is if say your CPU fan fails you will not be informed. Which motherboard is it? Do you have a spare keyboard you could plug in and tuck out of the way.

There should be a setting in the bios for different levels of faults to report.

If you use (halt on) 'all errors except keyboard', you will still get reminders of other errors so it is quite safe. Who knows of a keyboard error that compromised a computer (other than the human being typing on it ;) )
