I'm trying to put together an A5 booklet. It will contain pictures and text and be approximately 30 pages long. The idea will be to publish it and issue to work colleagues.

I've tried searching the internet for help with limited success. Ideally I'm after something simple like a template I can drop the text and pictures into. I've got Word and Publisher although I'm not very good with either, should I use those or is there better software suited to the task? Can anyone recommend an online resource for help and tutorials etc?

Thanks.

If you already have it I'd go with publisher. Once you get into it it's quite powerful and easy to use. I did a stint as a driving instructor and used it to generate nigh on all my lesson plans and hand-outs. The first couple took me hours on end but once I'd found my way round it I could rattle them out as necessary.

If you have sections that are wordy, as opposed to image driven, create those in word and cut and paste into your text frames.

There are a few tutorials on youtube.

Here you go. A Publisher A5 booklet template. You'll need to add pages in blocks of 4 (2 sides of an A4 sheet, obviously with 2 A5 pages per side).

When you print, set it to print double-sided with the setting to flip on the short edge (or similar setting). If your printer doesn't do duplexing (printing on both sides) automatically, you'll have work the order of the pages yourself.
