Boomerang Rentals.

I've continued to use them - no option. They are the only rental games company in the UK now (as far as I know) and I play way too many games to warrant paying full price for them all.

I've had zero issues with them (other than the 'leak').
They have changed how billing works now so I don't see any issues recommending them.

Listening to Game Scoop this morning and they were talking about game rentals, I used to make a lot of use of rentals back in the 16bit days as was the only way for me to play a wide variety of games between birthdays and Xmas.

I remember renting a lot of CD based games too, can't remember who it was with but someone like Blockbuster or might have been games on Love Film.

Presume Boomerang etc. will get Series X and PS5 games at some point, Game Pass already provides a lot of value but there will be some games that don't come to the service, would any of you consider using rentals again given the crazy RRP of next gen games? Or will you just wait for eventual sales?

I've considered it a few times but can't bring myself to it. The way they handled their data loss was disgusting. Surprised they are still in business but it goes to show there is a strong market for game rentals.

From what I understand they've improved their payment systems, so probably less of an issue now days.

They'll do well with the RRP cost hike and what you've suggested is a sensible option.

I would love to try them out again but having been reading Twitter (I know, probably not a good barometer of things) it seems they are really still just a small team, with more delays in the post due to COVID and things seem a bit fraught at times. I'm not sure I want that hassle. I'm probably going to end up perusing the second hand games on the market here.

Also had no issues at all but this was years ago. You're not risking much by trying for a month regardless. Certainly less risky than buying a £70 game that may turn out to be average.

But you don't get priority for that free trial as far as I'm aware. So I doubt you'd get your hand on a next gen game.

Still use boomerang every month, on priority 3 game package..

Crash bandicoot 4, Avengers and Star Wars squadrons all sent and arrived on day of release..

I joined up again today. And immediately cancelled. I picked 22 PS4 games ranging from Assassin's Creed III to Red Dead Redemption 2. Four of them were in stock, everything else had wait times of 6+ days. Flippin' ridiculous. I suppose it's great if you want new games but I want a PS5 to play new games on! :D
