OK so I'm British and an get upset about the loss of a British F1 driver.

Again it's down to money not skill. Maldonado and now Perez back in due to money.

Andi.

PS Oops forgot about Max Chilton who has a bob or too as well

Shame to see Di Resta go, always did like him. Still I always thought Perez was a decent driver, often giving Button a run for his money this season just unfortunate the McLaren has been such a dog.

Di Resta is ****, glad he as gone.

Ps. Di Resta brought Merc engines to FI. Perez is 100x the driver Di Resta is.

Pastasplatta face needs to be gone.

Di Resta had his chance and poo'ed it up the wall. Chilton and Maldanardo should not be in F1 either.

I find that a bit vitriolic. Did Paul sleep with your mrs. or something ! lol :p

I think it's a shame Di Resta is out next year. Especially when the likes of Maldonado are in. But It seems to be about money and not lack of talent. Di Resta just doesn't have the massive sponsorship behind him that lesser drivers have.

Still, we still have Lewis to root for. I'm hoping 2014 is going to be a good year for him and I have a feeling it will. ;)

Maybe he'd still have a drive, at Force India or elsewhere, if he didn't keep crashing and shouting at and criticising his team down the publicly broadcast team radio?

He showed well in DTM, part of last season and part of this season, but he's been absolutely shocking in the 2nd half of this season.

I wouldn't say he's been shocking. Not all of his incidents were his fault.

A lot of drivers go through phases where they always seem to be involved in some incident. Lewis and Massa a couple of years ago for example. Then Maldanado, then Grojean etc.

Just goes to show what a bribe from McLaren and cash can do :(

As opposed to £10m worth of free engines from Mercedes?

Lets be realistic, its a shame to see Paul without a drive, but FI didn't keep him about for so many years just because of his awesome skills. His seat was 'bought', just like Perez's.

Not a big loss as I've never thought Di'Resta was half the driver Eddie Jordan and co cracked him up to be. Yes its sad to lose a brit driver but really he is just part of the midfield nothing special.

I like Checo and am pleased to see him get a seat, hopefully this years FI is more competitive than the McLaren he came from. I don't think we have seen the best from him yet, yes he has a big sponsorship package (oh er missus) but he is also a talented driver and is capable of winning races with the right equipment under him which he didn't have at McLaren. Personally I think it's McLarens loss to let him go in favour of a relative unknown as he is capable of results.

Agree that Maldonardo and Chilton are pay drivers which shouldn't be in the sport in a ideal world, but reality is that F1 is a seriously expensive business and the teams are struggling to make ends meet. So if we want to continue to watch, we will need to put up with the pay drivers, so long as there is still real driving talent on the grid I can cope with this.

Yeah, because di Resta wasn't there for his Mercedes connections or the engine deal he brought...

Edit: ivebeengingered.jpg

I don't know was he? I've never seen his contract. sutil had backing from merc as well.
But I was just pointing out the truth sorry if you don't like it.

"ivebeengingered" have you! well what happened did you report it to the police?

Hmmm. di Resta is a good driver and has had some very good results over the past couple of years. However he always appears to be moaning. Maybe it's because he's Scottish? (joke).

I never liked Di Resta. Always sulks and I don't think I ever heard an interview where he didn't mention he wanted to race for a better team. I wonder how that made his mechanics feel...

I think it always on the cards he was going to lose his seat. If he was that valued he'd have been signed weeks back, he wasn't and when Perez came free with a bit pot of money I would have laid my cards he was going to end up at FI. Not sure what to make of Di Resta, worthy of F1 but not convinced he is anything more than a solid number 2.

I nearly ran him over in my first week at McLaren with a huge flight case.......he didnt take kindly to it. Tata!
