About half an hour ago, I was listening to music and using Hammer World Editor (Map maker for source engine) when all of a sudden BOOOOM!!! My speakers went crazy, lots of squeaking noises etc. My mouse and keyboard both turned off and I couldn't use them, but my computer remained on and was still playing the game, the moniter was switched on and stuff was moving about the screen like normal. At this point I simply turned off my compuer from having jumped a mile.

After a few minutes to sit back and see if anything was smoking etc. I turned my machine back on, it booted normally, the mouse and keyboard became responsive. I turned on my speakers and played some music on them throgh iTunes, with no change in quality and all the speakers working.

I just wanna know why the hell there was a loud bang and all this strange stuff happening then to be normal when I turned my computer back on. More importantly, I want to know if I may of broken something.

Spec:
AMD 3200+ @ 2010 X 10
XFX 6800GT
Creative G500 speakers
X-FI Music card
WD HD
2Gb Value RAM
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
G5 Mouse

I have had this issue in source games a while back on my previous XP3200 system, other game engines would occaisionally, but not very often lock or crash to the desktop. It was random and irregular and the PC would run for weeks without a problem. I discovered it to be faulty memory. I RMA'd the memory and it never again exhibited the problem.

Test memory with MEMTEST or run prime95, that should eliminate that...

otherwise, it was a bad day for weather, what about TTHHUUNNDDEERR!!!!
