Boosting Signal?

I got a DG834G netgear router and the matching net gear card. Recently it seems that the signal is constantly very low/low and around 18mbps, originally it used to be good @ 54mbps. I have changed nothing and checked everything.

What is the best to use to boost the signal?

havng a simular problem but my signal says very good but im getting to as low as 1mbs and lagging badly in games, nothing has moved not touched the pc or anything in house but sometimes in the day or around 10sih at night its crap, then it can be fine for hours.
