Hi all
A few days ago after installing some (unpaid for ) software. Today whilst booting up my laptop (Toshiba) I got "BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND PROBLEM"

Tried a few things all to no avail. So thought I would put my genuine Win 8.1 and try re-installing Windows 8.1. Tried all the different settings and i can't do a thing with it.

I can get get to a command prompt but not a clue from there.
Anyone have ideas or recommend any software I can try to use please.

Yes i can access Bios and i select to boot from CD. I run the installation but then have a load of choices. I have chosen each one but still nothing. Back in the old MSDOS days you could set it up by FDISK and FORMAT but nothing happening with these settings i'm afraid

In the process of installing. It gets as far as entering the code which i do then i get some choices like troubleshoot, advanced etc etc. I'm sure at this point i could normally have selected install, but it wont do anything oh i think it also lists usb boot or something like that.

Says choose an option TROUBLESHOOT then the choices
REFRESH YOUR PC "is The drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock & try again"
RESET YOUR PC "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing"
ADVANCED UPTION. (BELOW)
SYSTEM RESTORE (cant do it
SYSTEM IMAGE RECOVERY cannot find a system image
STARTUP REPAIR. Startup repair cannot repair your pc
COMMAND PROMPT
UEFI FIRMWARE SETTINGS. restart - nothing

sorry its long winded

no just the laptop with SSD Drive and internal cd/dvd

Looks like i need a bootable software that can make a partition. Thats what it seems to be lacking

Hi all. Many thanks for your assistance. I managed to do it at last. Been playing around with the MacBook Pro but have decided to sell it. I assumed it would run all my radio software and unfortunately the software is only Windows. I know i can install windows on it as a dual boot but got fed up in the end. So i'm afraid it's an ebay job.....
Thanks again
