I was forced to do a clean re-install of Windows 10 after a failed update.
I did a simple format of ONLY my C drive partition first before my re-install.

I can boot into my desktop successfully but ONLY after I first boot into BIOS and manually select my startup drive in the Boot list.
I then do a save-exit and can launch my desktop as usual.

The next time I restart (without entering BIOS first) my PC just hangs, fans whirring and a black screen.

Any help or feedback appreciated!!

Do you have any other drives in the system?

When you did the clean install did you disconnect all drives except the 1 you want the OS on? this would prevent Windows from installing stuff on any of the other drives.

Whats the full system spec? Could try replacing the cmos battery if its not remembering the boat order

Sounds like you need to rebuild the BCD. You can do this in CMD if you have a bootable Windows 10 iso.
