As I now have 4gb memory on my XP system [ RMA'd 2gb pair and had to buy 2gb while waiting...]
, is it worth putting the "/3gb" option on multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"
/noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Cheers Mike

the /3GB switch is for certain applications to be able to use the extra memory. It won't give you an extra gig for general use in windows, so no.

Thanks - I should have guessed that it wouldn't help me!:p

So its wait 'till Vista then.

Its nothing to do with the software its to do with the hardware as a 3GB limitation.

So you would need 64-bit hardware to take advantage of 4GB+

Although you are right about needing 64bit hardware to use 4GB of ram you are wrong about the software, Windows Vista/XP 32bit will only ever address 3.2 > 3.5 gigs of ram, this is a limitation of the 32bit architecture, although Windows Vista 32bit can see 4GB it can't utilise the full 4GB, it will only utilise 3.2 > 3.5 gig, if you have 64bit hardware you still need Windows Vista/XP 64bit to overcome the 32bit limitation.
