Hey folks, my computer's suddenly stopped booting up and I've no idea what's wrong with it. It will show the motherboard screen and I can press DEL to get into setup, but after that's done loading it shows a black screen with a flashing underscore cursor and freezes there. I've tried resetting the computer with my Win7 CD in the drive, but it doesn't get to the status of even booting the CD - just freezes on that screen.
I had no problem until last night when I downloaded and installed Mass Effect 2 from the EA downloader. During the installation part a issue I'd had previously cropped up - the monitor flashed off from time to time, normally when something on the screen changed (switched pages in Opera, scrolled up or down, anything but the most minor changes). It'd only be a small flash, like it'd lose connection with the PC, and then it'd be back again. None of the connections were loose and checking on them didn't solve the issue, but it took care of itself if I reset the computer, only this time it's obviously led to a greater problem.
Any ideas?
