Does anyone know what might be causing this issue when I turn the PC on. It boots, all fans spin etc, but no beep and monitor does not come on.

If I repeatedly keep trying at some point it will eventually beep and boot into windows, but my bios settings will be lost. I also have some success, but not always if I take the battery out of the mobo and then put it back in.

The PC has been working fine for the last two years, but this problem started a few months ago and has gradually got worse.

Could it be a flat battery? or has the mobo developed a fault?

Can you get into the BIOS and reset default settings? Rule out any overclock/setting it isn't happy with. Usually a dead CMOS battery will just manifest itself as the date and time not sticking (or slowing down) when the power is switched off for a while. Can't do any harm replacing it, they are only cheap

If it doesn't beep I can't get into the BIOS. When it does and I go in and set it back to default settings it makes no difference, the problem will still occur.

Think I'm just going to upgrade to Ivy Bridge anyway..its driving me nuts.
