Hmm, have a major headache here.
Have transferred a lot of parts over to a new case and a modular Tagan PSU (wattage appears to be fine) for a friend, these parts were running fine before moving them.

Now, the system cannot recognise anything on the IDE0 connection. Have tried different cables, etc with no joy. I have also tried to run the dvd drives off it, with no success.

So, I dropped the h/drive onto IDE1 and it booted, but took an age to get into windows. After this it ran so slow it was untrue. It has 2 gig of ram and an A64 3800 on an ecs mobo.

All leads are connected properly.

I have a feeling that the IDE0 connection has gone pop and this is contributing to the system taking an age. I have turned off the IDE0 in the bios, but it still takes an age?

All help greatly appreciated. ;)

Checked the pins earlier. They are all ok.
Nope, the h/drive is running on it's own and is set to master.

I have never had a problem like this in 10 years of building pc's

Sorted it, it was a stupid sata drive that was connected.
Rang the lad and he told me that he had been having problems with windows trying to recognise it.
Unplugged it and et voila. :D
