Hi Guys,
Having some issues getting a laptop to boot from a Windows XP disk. It currently has windows 7 installed but something has gone wrong and when the machine boots into windows 7 it doesn't do anything, the screen stays black with no errors appearing.

I tried doing windows recovery but the only thing to come up was the background picture and the cursor. I left the machine like this for almost 2 hours and it didn't change.

When i try to boot from a windows xp disk to try and load it on the computer doesn't recognise the disk. I have tried a few different disks as well and none of them work. I tried an old windows 2000 disk and managed to get it to start going through the install process but after only a few minutes before any options come up the blue screen of death appears saying inaccessible boot device.

Thinking it was the dvd drive i tried a USB external drive and this didn't work either.

I am at a loss and not sure what the issue is, have you guys any ideas.
