Can someone help me in fairly simple steps please?

I had one drive with win xp.
I bought a new drive and installed win 7 pro 64
Win 7 deteted win xp and configured to be dual boot.
So far no problem.
I now have an SSD.
I want to put a fresh copy of win 7 on the SSD.
However when I tried, I found that windows still uses the original bootldr or NTLDR.

The plan is to re format my old xp drive and use it for other things.

When I disconnected it (to test) I found that windows still looks for the files on that drive and I am stuck.

Check that your boot order isn't trying to book from the drive with XP on it before the SSD, settings for this are in the BIOS on boot up.

Alternatively just do as optitech-uk has suggested and take all drives out, install windows to the SSD then connect them up, chances are you'll have to ensure the SSD is the first bootable hard disk though.

Yes, this too.
