On boot - my motherboard tells me it can't find my SSD with my windows installation on. If I reset cmos it works. If I turn off power supply fora few secs, turn it on again the boot up it works. But not with out doing that. I've replaces the cmos battery, and I've set the boot priority. Except, that actuallly - I can't find my SSD in the boot priority - I can only set the "UEFI HDD" as a boot option. Motherboard is MSI z97 U3 plus, SSD is crucial M500 M.2.

Firstly, is this a new build or has it been working previously and stopped suddenly/after a recent chance ?

Secondly, one of the most basic things to do is just unplug all additional drives, (HDD,CD/DVD ETC) then plug in just the SSD in say Sata 1, boot it up and see what happens (Ensuring none of the Sata ports are set to disabled in the Bios), trying all sata slots to ensure it's not a bad connection/port etc.

Also is the Bios fully up to date ?

I can't plug my SSD into sata 1, it is an m.2 SSD. I'll try to update the BIOS. And it was working before - I don't know what made it change.

Seems very strange for it to suddenly stop working indeed.

Anything happen before to trigger this ? new component installed, software, hardware, a format ? Anything
