Boot Problem - Acer Aspire 3680

Right, I have an Aspire 3680 that will not do anything. On startup it will go to the main boot screen displaying the Acer logo, and giving me the option to go to the Setup Menu. I've tried all sorts to get it to startup properly but to no avail. It has 120 GB hard drive, 2GB RAM. I was told by my sister that she dropped it, it shut down and that's when the problem started. I've opened it up but nothing seems out of place.

Sounds like its killed the hard drive, if it cant talk to it it can cause the post to hang, try taking it out and see what happens.

I wonder if by "shut down" what she means to say is "immediately and abruptly failed to continue its existence".

Indeed, does it acknowledge the HDD's presence in the BIOS?
