I'm unable to boot off an IDE DVD-RW I connected to the JMicron controller on an Asus P5K motherboard. I've fiddled with the controller mode in the BIOS to no avail. I don't have any SATA DVD drives or alternative IDE controllers handy. The BIOS is dated 22-06-2007.
