Hi i have just tried to build mmy new PC but sadly i cant get it to boot/post.

It powers up and then shuts down, then powers up and shuts down and carryies on like this.

The PSU seems fine, ive powered it up with just a jumper cable and it seems fine. I have the motherboad outside the case with the main power and the 12v power connected.

When i dont insert the ram, it powers up for longer and eventually powers down. With the ram installed, it only stays on for a second or two before powering istelf down again.

Im thinking it might be something to do with the RAM but im havnt built a pc for a few years so no idea really.

My specs:

Mobo: Gigabyte H67N-USB3-B3
cpu: i5 2500k (stock intel cooler)
ram: 2* 2Gb samsung DDR3 - 10600R (I believe this ram to be EEC and im now guess my mobo doesn't support it...)
psu: Seasonic S12 600W

If anyone has a spare stick of DDR3 ram i could borrow to test with, i would return it.

Thanks for any help.

Disconnect the power. Pop out the cmos battery for a minute or two and replace.

2* 2gb im assuming means you have 2 ram modules. Try one at a time in the slot closest to the heatsink. I would be very surprised if you got two dud ones at once but **** can and does happen.

You've done the right thing running it out of the case. Try that and post back fella

Ah ha! That's worked a treat, will try moving it back into the case tomorrow and plugging in my HDD's.
I honestly thought it might of been my PSU at first not being powerful enough.
Thanking you :)
