Boot problems

Recently I have been getting these boot problems when i turn on my pc. First i turn it on and i can hear everything starting up, processor fan, psu etc. But the screen is just blank and the monitor button goes orange to indicate that it is either off or on standby.

I then press the reset button on the base unit and it works fine on the second boot. But when i come to the selection of which OS to choose (XP or Vista) it just goes to the Vista screen saying "Resuming Windows". Kinda like a system restore but i disabled that thinking it would fix it.

Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks

Mine does exactly the same thing when it fails to wake up from sleep mode properly. The system comes alive but the monitor goes from green to orange, and I'm left with a blank screen.

If I then hit the reset button, the PC restarts and I get the "Resuming Windows..." message, the desktop then eventually appears, but takes much longer to appear than a normal boot would.

I've put this down to a incompatibility between my mainboard and Vista' new hybrid sleep mode. Either that or it's a driver issue - probably Nvidia's crappy drivers!

Thanks for the reply. Its good to hear that im not the only one having these problems. I thought it was a hardware issue like the psu not giving enough juice on first boot, but i had always thought it was something to do with Vista. I may just format Vista and repartition my hard drive just to have XP. Its good and all but there isn't any way to overclock video cards in Vista :)
