boot up problems

when i boot up pc theres like alien writing all over the screen which flashes in sequence till xp logo and when i go to home screen theres dots n dashes all over the screen.....can anyone tell me what the problem can be..ive re-installed drivers to no avail...could it be my harddrive giving up or graphics card ????....i havnt another pc to swop bits to see what the problem is....i thought my bios was corrupted but i cant even read the xp disc on screen commands because of the strange writing...???

Your graphics card sounds like it's on its way out, Swap that out first, if that doesn't do anything swap monitors, more than likely your graphics card tho

yeah,it was the graphics card...ive got an sli board so swopped it to other lane....the card was very hot but a lot cooler now...lol....writing was like symbols from predator....ok for now,wish id taken a screen shot....never seen it before n hopefully never again....

think was a heat thing....card has been a little strange since i swopped them.calmed down for now....not half as hot as it was......touch wood...?
