My machine seems to take ages to boot into vista 64 bit.

it does things like checking dmi pool table etc is this necessary can i get it to boot quicker? I am running an e8400 cpu with 4 gig ocz ram so the machine should be quicker.

Have you just installed Vista? Mine took ages for a few days, then it sorted itself out.

What's your spec?

had vista installed for about 2 weeks ago.

Gigabyte S775 Intel P45 ATX A L 6SATA11
Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 6M Ca
OCZTECH 2x2GB 240DIMM PC2-6400 Gold
Ati 4850

Should this verifying dMI pool table on boot up be running?

Mine takes about 1 min 5 secs to go from turning the pc on to having everything started up and ready to use (including NOD32 doing its stuff).

I can live with that:D

hmmm you have the same sort of spec as me (but u have better ram and mobo :P).. myn seems to take about 30 seconds... Has it just started to slow? Or has it always been like this? Perhaps you need to look at updating the motherboard bios?

Mine takes around 2 mins. Very slow.
E6600 @ 3.4. 4gig ballistix ram. 2 raptors in Raid 0(i think) Vista 64.
but it does close down verty fast!!

I have got a gadget on vista that displays memory cpu usage etc. I notice that memory is only about 38% used under load and the dual core cpu sometimes one core is flat out and the other hardly registering but on boot up both cores are maxed out
