Hi all,
As above really. Sometimes after booting on my old Seagate Barracuda 7200 drive, (Vista 64 on this particular drive) when you get to the welcome screen where you type your password in, it just hangs. It may then load into windows, or occasionally but fortunately less frequently, hang indefinitely unless I do a restart. I've had this drive for well over six years, is that 'old'? I've no idea what the average life expectancy is for hard drives. It does sound rather noisey and is noticably slower than my newer velociraptor, which is to be expected.
The cpu is only set atm to only 3.0ghz for other reasons - can't work out if the chip isn't a great clocker or possibly my mobo isn't in thee best of health, so I am experimenting with different settings. I don't think the above mentioned porblem is cpu clock related, so I've pretty much put that to one side as a separate issue.
Any ideas please?
Cheers.
