Bootable flash drive?

What OS?
What size USB?

Two key bits of information missed out right there, Ubuntu will fit on a 2GB stick for example, windows 7 will not.

There are also a few different methods, if you have the OS on a DVD already you can use xcopy to just move the files over, otherwise you'll need to use some sort of USB ISO copier, I've just done this for windows 8 but can't remember what I used, Google is yo' friend.

Also, you need to make sure your mobo supports booting from USB stick.

fantastic, thank you :)

im sure googling should be an Olympic sport.. some people are MUCH better than others (im crap)

Copying OS files to a USB wouldn't be enough to boot from it.

There's a few different ways to do it, and it largely depends on what you are actually looking to do.

The MS tool linked above is designed to let you install Windows from USB, not designed to let you *run* Windows from USB.

Sorry ive not explained propperly, i want to install from a USB flash drive to an SSD already installed.

Looks like explaining things is another character flaw of mine hahaha
