So after being stuck with the 'boot camp certified' radeon drivers i finally got around to installing the up to date, modded to install cat drivers, and the difference is immense. Why on earth do apple black list the vanilla downloaded cat drivers? Is it just to make the graphics more sucky in windows thereby encouraging users to operate in osx?
