Hi, i have a couple of questions about bootcamp.

Im normally a PC user and as such know nothing about macs. However my boss uses MACs and he wants a new mac so i was interested in dual booting windows too with this bootcamp thingy. However we also use redhat linux enterprise.

So, I was wondering whether:
1. you can install redhat linux enterprise with bootcamp
and 2. If so can you use 3 OS's with bootcamp ie leopard, windows and linux

Thanks

:)

Yes, with a little hacking you can, with varying degrees of success. I probably wouldn't recommend it in a work environment though in case it goes balls up. Compatibility issues will probably rear their ugly head.

If you're going to be running Linux most of the time the Macs would be a waste of money because you could get the same spec PC for a fraction of the price. :)

That sucks :(

Hopefully i can persuade him to buy a PC instead then (unlikely)

If not i will just dual boot with windows xp or vista, and never use the mac OS :p

thanks for that.

For someone who "knows nothing about macs", already making a decision to dual boot and never use OS X is rather... ignorant, don't you think?

Give the Mac a chance, Leopard is good.

If not, don't bootcamp, you can easily run it on Virtual; with Parallels or VMWare (I'd recommend VMWare) whilst running natively on OS X.

What do you actually use Linux for? Is it for a bespoke program of the company? Or is it just generic office software? If its not tied to Linux then its highly likely the Mac has an alternative.
