I have a white Core2Duo iMac that I was intending to put Vista x64 on. I made the assumption that being a Core2 it would be fine, but reading on t'internet it seems that only Mac Pros and some Macbook Pros are able to run the 64bit versions and everything else needs to use 32bit.

Seems a bit odd to me, does anyone know if this is true, or just out of date documentation due to naff drivers?

I think I've figured out the reason for that Apple article. The only machines that have 64bit Vista drivers on the Leopard disks are the Mac Pro and new Macbook Pro, and you need that installer to be installed before that update you posted will work.

I managed to get hold of a Mac Pro disk and install from there.. god knows why Apple don't just make these drivers and utilities available to all!

All seems to be working fine. I have all my main apps back on and working ok. The little Bootcamp widget near the clock doesn't seem to load up, but I can live without that.

Didn't need any additional drivers for the iMac, the storage, video and network drivers (the most important ones) worked out of the box with my SP1 install.. just things like audio and iSight needed the Apple drivers.
