Hello

I've got a friend who has a 2009 MBP Core2Duo 2.8ghz 128ssd 8gbram.

This friend had Windows 7 through Parallels so far, but because of a recent game he plays, wanted to install Windows through Bootcamp, to increase performance while on Windows.

Problem: His DVD-drive does not work.

I am not very accustomed with Mac OSX, but I told him I'd do my best. I tried through Bootcamp, but the USB flash bootable option is not available, later read it only is on MBA.

I tried manually doing a partition so I can boot through a USB and install Windows, with many errors on the way, finally I downloaded a program to defragment his drive. I then proceeded to shrink his MacOSX to 95gb and leave 25gb, to make another partition, naming it windows disk. I then inserted a bootable usb and through disk startup tried booting from it, but it would not come up as a bootable device. I tried though disk utilities to make a bootable usb, but all it would say was Error-invalid argument.
I also tried through the ALT while starting up menu, with no luck.
He even said "I'm gonna format everything it might work", so I setup his Time Machine, backed up his ssd and bought Lion OSX, which unfortunately did not format anything, rather it upgraded. Also tried all of the above with Lion with no success
I ran out of options, so any other way you might know to do this?
thanks!

If the DVD Drive doesnt work, you need to make a Windows 7 installation USB stick.
