Bootcamp on seperate HDD?

Does bootcamp have to be installed on the same drive as OSX is installed on or can i assign an seperte HDD purely for bootcamp/windows 7?

I seem to remember reading it has to be on the same drive as OSX but cant seem to find any info confirming that or otherwise.

No. I installed Windows 7 at the weekend onto a clean and empty drive with no problems.

Was that an internal drive or a USB drive?

I don't think so, I tried under Leopard and it wouldn't let me. And I don't think anything has changed with Snow Leopard.

What about installing on to a partition on an internal drive, then creating an image of that partition, and moving it on to an external drive?

I keep any OS X installation discs on external drives as bootable images. Much quicker.
