I was trying to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp last night - all went well until Win7 started up - it wanted me to type a username for the default user. However, I have a wireless keyboard & mouse, and these didn't appear to be recognised (I think I might have to pair them later??). I had to abort the installation by hard resetting.

Any way around this, without buying a wired keyboard & mouse?!

If it is bluetooth, then no. If it is wireless RF (2.4ghz etc) then it should detect them. My only keyboard is one of those (uses a USB transmitter) and I installed Windows 7 fine as it has the drivers for such devices.

Any Bluetooth peripherals will not work until they are paired (as you mentioned).

Funny thing is that when Win7 setup starts, I can use the keyboard and mouse... but once setup finishes, and it reboots, it doesn't detect them and I'm stuck on the "Create User" screen. Might just dig out my wired mouse and try that....

Can you borrow a keyboard and mouse from someone?

This sort of thing drives me nuts too... Windows XP will detect that I've hit F8 on my keyboard and want to see the boot options, but then won't recognise my keystrokes trying to select safe mode. Ridiculous!

I've been having problems with my Bluetooth mouse. Works fine in OS X and Win7 won't entertain it unless I re-pair it each boot. Given up and started using a USB one instead.

Other than that it's rather decent for an Windows OS.

Unfortunately Bluetooth keyboards can only remember one pairing key therefore whenever you try to boot into a different OS, your keyboard is no longer paired. Although, the weird thing is that if you use the same pairing key in each OS, it still forgets the pairing

Bluetooth mice doesn't suffer from this issue since they don't have keys to type the pairing key :p
