Hi all.

Got the Macbook at last and all is working perfectly. So now I have it how I want it I though it was time to give bootcamp and xp a whirl.

Through University I have access to the MSDNAA Online Software System.

So I downloaded the Windows XP Professional with SP2 (Single User) ISO Image thinking great already all done for me.

I downloaded bootcamp, made a driver CD, partitioned my drive and burned the above image to disc.

But bootcamp constantly says cant find XP disc please insert or something along those lines, so realising I may be being stupid I followed a tutorial for burning a slipstream XP disc and this time burn it a boot (CD) rather than ISO image but still exactly the same problem.

Am I doing something obviously wrong as both discs are recognised on my PC but wont work for bootcamp. Can I get bootcamp to work with the above file?

Help Appreciated.

I firstly burnt it as a iso image and after that didnt work extracted the files, used iso buster and then burnted as a bootable cd.

Niether is recognised by bootcamp though :(

Anyone got any idea what im doing wrong as id really like to get this working.

Boot Camp is really fussy with discs unfortunatly, ''i'm not sure if theres any technical ways you could get round it but you could always resort to Parallels if you get really stuck, fortunatly it's not as fussy as Boot Camp.

You can say that again. I even got a xp sp2 disc copied from work today and it doesnt like that either. Think ill just give up for now, i have parrells installed but wanted the better 3d support you get with bootcamp.

Has everyone else that has got it working used like an offical microsoft retail disc ?

It appears that you can put any old version of Windows on that you like. Now I've not tried Bootcamp yet as I am without Mac but just run the initial part of the process so that you get your BIOS whatdyamacallit into the EFI.

Then boot from your Windows CD whilst holding down C and just run through the setup process. It should just do it - XP, XP SP2, 2000, x64 (if you've got a Mac Pro) should all go on.

AFAIK, only Windows SP2 versions supported - or at least XP with SP2 Slipstreamed.

I bought a Xp SP2 OEM disk from OcUK for about £80, it installed perfectly, I havent used it much because OSX seems to do everything I need anyway.

Well i tried the disc i made yesterday, set bootcamp up again, ignored the cant find disc message, rebooted, held down c, and . . . . . . .
