As the title suggests, I'm trying to boot from my Windows 7 CD, in order to execute a repair on some system files.

I can boot from the CD, all is fine and dandy until i get to the point where the set up screen should be, I just get given the windows 7 background with a mouse pointer, and nothing more, can't do anything except for reset.

Does anybody have any suggestions at all (Except for a full reformat :()

Ah yes, that worked :D had to wait 15 minutes

But now my CD says that my version of Windows isn't compatible with this version.. despite both being Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

How could this happen or what could cause it?

Ah, well, I had Windows Update automatically download updates, so that includes SP1 I suppose since it's in the updater, but it appears to only be partially installed (44mb out of 500 something), could this be the reason? If so, is there anyway to undo this?
